Yet another email that will probably be unanswered. I am here once again at Bayou Segnette and the condition of the park is disgusting! The state is not putting crap into Bayou Segnette! Today I pulled up and see that the site I love to book now has a sink hole starting to form. We love to book this site everytime we come and especially love to book it for Halloween weekend since we invite a group of friends out to cut up with us.
I have been camping at BSSP for colse to 30 years. I have never seen someting so neglected in all my years. I send emails to state officials and never get a response. I'm starting to fel like they just don't give a shit!
Rest assured, they have not heard the last from me. They talk the talk but can't seem to walk the walk. Mr. Nungessor talks all kinds of talk about how he is making things happen all over in the state park system but he surely isn't making anything happen at Bayou Segnette. I have seen time and time again on Facebook how improvements are happening at other state parks in the stete but have yet to see anything done at Bayou Segnette State Park. They talked about putting in sewer connections over ten years ago, nothing yet. Meanwhile, I see reports about sewer connections among all sorts of other improments are happening at other state parks. Bayou Segnette used to be the highest money earner in the state among state parks. I don't know if it is the same today but damn, someone at the state level needs to open their damn eyes. I'm not typically a fan of Lee Zurik, but damn! It might be time to make a phone call!

I sent an email last year about the condition of Bayou Segnette. I feel the need to send another. Sadly, I don’t expect a response cause I never got one last year, except from a few Westwego officials. That actually says a lot about the state, being they aren’t even the ones responsible for the state parks.
I’m truly disappointed in state officials for not even being able to lift a finger to give a response. Some can talk the talk but can’t do anything past that.
Anyway, here goes. The condition of the park is still very disappointing. You can see in my email below, from last year, all the problems that I felt need addressing. Many if not all of these problems still exist.
I really try not to be the one who complains a lot but it’s sickening to see this park in the condition it is in. I would be more understanding If the state was having money issues but I see on Facebook almost everyday how another park is getting all sorts of improvements. Bayou Segnette was supposed to get sewer connections over ten years ago. Still no plan for connections in sight that I know of.
There are a lot of other parks that also hold events for all sorts of things. We can’t even get any more from Bayou Segnette other than a 3 hour window for trick or treating, and it’s from 3-6pm. That’s Ludicrous! Children don’t want to trick or treat during the day. Bayou Segnette used to have a great Halloween program, I know cause I started it and it grew from others over the years. It certainly is not what it used to be.
From the lack of events to the lack of upkeep in the park, I’m disgusted.
Like I said in the beginning of this email, I don’t expect I’ll receive a response from anyone at the state level. I’ve contacted Mr. Nungesser a few times, but you too, Mr. Nungesser, couldn’t be bothered with giving me any sort of response.
