I was wondering if anyone here had a any recommendations for camping within 2 hours of the Northshore. (St. Tammany) I would like to plan a trip soon while the weather is cold. We don't have an RV but I plan on renting one to get my feet wet. Thanks in advance!    Great forum by the way!

Keith,

Being a fan of state parks, I recommend you try Fountainbleu State Park on the lake. There is also Fairview/Riverside State Park in Madisonville. I have never camped at Fairview before but I hear it is nice and want to try it one day. It's right on the river. Fishing and camping, together, doesn't get any better. :)

If you have kids, you can try Land O Pines on Million Dollar Rd. or Sweetwater Campground in Loranger. Not sure if it's still the same but they both used to  have plenty of activities for the kiddos. On some weekends they would even have live bands.
